Questions
Is it legal?
Monitoring staff can be lawful in the UK when it's necessary, proportionate and transparent. VertexDesk won't switch on until you've recorded your purpose, why less intrusive options won't work, your lawful basis and a completed DPIA, and given every enrolled employee a clear privacy notice. You remain responsible for your own assessment, so take advice if you're unsure.
Can employees see their screenshots?
Yes. Each employee sees every screenshot taken of their screen in the last seven days, and a log of which administrator viewed them and when.
What's excluded?
No webcam, microphone or keystrokes, ever. Nothing is captured outside clocked-in hours, while paused, or while an excluded app is on screen — by default banking apps, password managers, WhatsApp and other personal messaging, personal email and healthcare portals. You can add more.
What devices are supported?
Windows now. Mac is coming soon.
What happens when we cancel?
Capture stops straight away for everyone. Billing ends at the end of the current period, and any remaining screenshots are deleted within seven days as normal.
